If samsung marketing people are wise, they should price the Galaxy tab at least $100 to $150 less than iPad2 not just $20 less. what else but android honeycomb.... temporarily android tablets will have to cut down prices because everybody thinks tablets shouldn't be priced more than 200 dollars....they forget that android tablets are cheaper by at least 100 dollars and offer more features like full usb port, hdmi out etc etc..all that is gone in this fire sale by HP...come black fridat some android tablet manufacturers will reduce prices and they will get back to normal operations....asus, acer and especially samsung are doing fine with tablet sales...android has this ever growing app store that will keep it in business...this is wereHP failed...their app store is bad and they made a mistake by releasing 2 phones in last two years and expected apps to be created ....webOS is good but lack of vision by palm/hp has failed them | ||

True. Agree 100%. But.. there is still something worrisome, I do not get it. Example is me, myself. I do not want a HPTP. I do not care that it is $99. I do have iPad2. But still I want to "have" a HPTP desperately. why? why? I do not know. that's what worries me. If there are millions of ppl like me, someone is to benefit, some one is going to lose. who are those? | ||

- what made these people to buy these like crazy. = = = = pls lock this. Its 99.99%, the price of this table generated the crazy. If you see the satistics of sale prior to Aug 16, its very disappointing for HP. I don't have any plans at all to purchase a tablet but I can't resist at this price...and I strongly believe 99.99% people also thought same. and its really not a great product comparing to Apple Ipad. The touch interface, number of apps, etc ipad is much much superior (just based on my experiecen with iphone so far i can tell this). this is not at all a threat to apple or for that matter any other tablet. Hp's WebOS clearly lagged behind in terms of apps comparing to iOS and Android. Its clearly HP's failure to properly understand the customer needs and market trends. The loss to andorid is just temporary because HP is discontinued 100% this product. Once its settles, android tables will continue to grow in the market. Its too early to decide on how amazon tablet fares in the market. what is OS its going to run? And no one knows what there in store for ipad3. There is something peculiar about the popularity of HPTP particularly after its demise. I am unable to place my thumb on it properly and evaluate who are the winners and losers. if you could figure this out, you could pick a reasonably good stock now. -------------- factors are: -------------- - what made these people to buy these like crazy. the only thing comparable ever happened in the recent past is when Apple released their iPhone. - is it price? does this mean, iPad is vulnerbale to a $99-#149 range competitor? - is it a rebellion? are there people who desperately seek a competitor for iPad? - is it a truly great product? in other words, the product is so outstanding, but HP botched the message. ------------- Competitors ------------- Apple - Apple onbviously has a far superior product but do they need a 7inch tablet at a lower price. Steve trashed the idea saying what you lose is not 2 inches, but some ridiculously high percentage of area, which makes the app experience lousy. Apple is not going to react to this. Amazon - they must be watching this with so much curiosity, and secretly thanking Hp for exiting as a competitor as well as giving them a billion dollar marketing experiment to study. my guess is, amazon is going to price their tablet in $99-149 range and give AAPL a good run for their money. They have their own channel, their own app and content store and a usage based charge model. So, Amazon is going be a major beneficiary. Google - Every HPTP in someone's hands is an Android tablet lost. However Android will slowly replace webos on these devices, assuming the hardware doent have any bugs. MS - It may have gained the webos developers. ---------------------------------------------- My Final Take: Buy Amazon ---------------------------------------------- Amazon will launch a color tablet will possibly sell 3-4 million units into christmas. It is going to be very aggressively priced. |
