The JanLokpal agitation has become a circus now. Literally there is a small scale circus going on at Ramlila maidan with a girl walking on a rope holding a pole in her hand. Is that how you handle a serious agitation? Half of those shouting for Anna don't know what they are shouting for. If Kiran Bedi can spend half of the time she spends on twitter, and standing in the middle of the stage and waving the national flag to educate the gathering, the agitation will have some meaning. | ||

One of the gratest bill from government is Right to Information Act(RTI). This is one of the POWERFUL tools that would change entire Indian Syatem. People have very short memory and forgot Anna's contribution on RTI and his fast. On 20 July 2006 the Union Cabinet amended the Right to Information Act 2005 to exclude the file noting by the government officials from its purview. Hazare began his fast unto death on 9 August 2006 in Alandi against the proposed amendment. He ended his fast on 19 August 2006, after the government agreed to change its earlier decision. That was the cruel act from government to make dent to RTI act. Because of anna, now anyone can be able to get the information from any government office. We are all owe to Anna on this. | ||

Government acted in the same way how it handled Ramdev. First it seemed to accept major demands and finally they created an impression that Ramdev was too adamant and sidetracked ALL of his demands. Same tactics were applied here also. Initially they created an atmosphere like they agreed everything and finally they choreographed with opposition and entire bill was taken back. Now everything came to square one. Now they will start preparing the bill from scratch and they never promised that whole exercise will be completed before next session. Government still wants to create a lokpal bill in this manner: Lower bureaucracy is not included. (So common man's problems cannot be addressed. There is no chance for a common man to file a complaint against any corrupted official like ration card, birth certificate, traffic police, hospital, pensions, government offices etc). Lokayuktha is not integrated with Lokpal. So state government officials do not come under lokpal/lokayuktha. Whenever the rules of lokayuktha is dictated by state government, then corruption cannot be eradicated. We need one ANNA for each state. No Whistleblower's protection. Last year 10-20 RTI activists are MURDERED, even there are some provisions in RTI. When whistle blowers are not there in lokpal, then there is no question of their protection. Finally government lokapal will be useful for the government to investigate on the officers who are not favorable to politician's interest. When you can't complain on someone(lower buerocracy not included), when you don't know how to complain(public grevience mechanism), no guarantee to your life(whistle blower protection), when you don't know when it will be solved(citizen chater) then there is no use of lokpal bill for a common man. Government and oppositions are not interested to include above points. But still some intellectuals think that government agreed 90% of ANNA demands. Everyone's mentality is that Bhagath singth should be born to clean the system but he shouldn't be born in my family (JP Quote). Anna came forward but few are not giving moral support. | ||

Jan Lokpal is too extreme to implement... Govt proposed lokpal is too little... in between ga JP proposal is very good.... basically JP is pressing on Local govt Lokayuktha powers... just adding PM to lokpal does not do wonders... anduke JP says lets implement state level Lokpal also which can prosecute all except CM,Governor.. | ||

it doesnt matter whose version is implemented. all of their merits outweigh their shortcomings. what the govt (and opposition) will try to do is cut the fangs of each one of them and neutralize it. even if one of these bills is passed as is, they will be underfunded and amended to make them useless as long as public keep sending morons into assembly and parliament and keep rubbing their wishing toys nothing is going to change JLP might reduce corruption but how about other parts of govt responsibilities like law and order, national security, inflation etc the same people the bill is intended against are responsible for all of them oka vastuvu ae reethilo undaalo aa vidham gaa undaali - balayya | ||
