I don't think they had any visibility in terms of what was hidden under those neatly packed/decorated CDS/Mortgage instruments... Banks themselves didn't have a clue that it will backfire... How can rating agency understand those complex algorithms behind those products. But now us govt is taking a revenge on S&P :-) To be fair, govt should also audit/question other agencies also as everyone gave more or less same ratings to all those mortgage products sold by banks Don't say you don't have enough time. You have exactly the same number of hours per day that were given to Helen Keller, Pasteur, Michaelangelo, Mother Teresea, Leonardo da Vinci, Thomas Jefferson, and Albert Einstein | ||
