Will Jagan Plead Forgiveness? It appears the YSR Congress Party has realized that the only way their leader Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy can wriggle out of the CBI case is to prostrate before the Congress President Sonia Gandhi and seek forgiveness. The time is running out for Jagan as CBI sleuths are preparing for massive, simultaneous raids on his properties and also on the companies which had made huge investments in his business ventures. Even at this stage, the situation can be salvaged if a back-channel is activated to contact the Congress bigwigs for an honourable face-saver. The sources in YSR Congress Party, however, lament that Jagan is not in the habit of listening to wiser counsel and always takes unilateral decisions. Even those considered his close inner circle do not have guts to give him any advice. There is a growing sense of discomfort among the second-rung leaders in the fledgling party that the situation was fast spinning out of control. Even the arrest of Jagan is a possibility now. A section of the party leaders feel that a âpolitical compromiseâ can be worked out even at this juncture to avoid the embarrassing fallout of arrest and imprisonment. The party spokesman Ambati Rambabu admitted that âanybody can get clean chit if he indulges in flattery of Sonia Gandhi.â Though he was speaking in the context of former Chief Minister K Rosaiah getting a clean chit from ACB in a land case, it was an indirect admission that even Jagan can escape punishment if he chooses to resort to sycophancy only option left for jagan |
