All reputed manufacturers have minimum advertised price restriction on their products by retailers. be it online or B&M for e.g: Sony X model Bluray player should not be advertised as less than $100 by any of their retailers....instead they can issue store coupons or online coupons...but never they can advertise as Sony X for $90 ... hence minimum selling price lets say $100 online retailer ki aithe adhi $90 charge jeyyali, B&M ki aithe $80 charge cheyyaali..... but as a manufacturer why one should care who the F is retailer ? as long as retailer pays him base price he is happy to deliver the product to them | ||

Manufacturers should have two pricing models & pricing restrictions They should give it for lower base price to B&M retail stores compared to Online retailers... otherwise all B&M stores will shutdown in very few years...esp electronic goods/home appliances one | ||

My current gaming mouse (use a different mouse for just browsing) from 2005 is getting too old, and I went to Best Buy (on an impulse, after having a nice lunch on Sunday) to buy a new mouse. I loved the Cyborg R.A.T 7 mouse tagged at $99.99. I used the cellphone's bar code scanner and it was available for $75.99 at Amazon. I politely asked the guys if they are going to match the price or they prefer to lose my business. They said, "Sorry, we can't match Amazon". Right in front of them, I bought the mouse from Amazon. If this trend keeps growing, people will visit Brick & Mortar stores like Best Buy only to view and play with the items on display, but never buy them. So, how are they going to survive in the long run? Is Best Buy at risk of becoming another Circuit City? B&M stores have a lot of overhead, leasing the store space, employees, electricity etc. How can they match the competitive prices of online only stores like Amazon and Newegg, who have very little overhead? An idea is like a Virus. |
