If things go according to schedule at The Championships and he reaches the final, the world No. 2 will take the top slot in two weeks' time. In fact, the only way Rafael Nadal can retain his top dog slot is by winning The Championships and hoping Djokovic does not get to the final. Djokovic has just 65 fewer ATP ranking points than Rafael Nadal: 12,070 vs 12,005, so Nadal has no wriggle room on the numbers. Even more, if Nadal falls before the final, the Serb will take the ATP ranking lead, even if he goes out in the first round (or any later round) himself.
