its exactly that, a bar with speakers in it. Guru if its just for your living room, then I would say go for a good sound bar. Cheap, trendy and uses a lot less space. Spending money on 7.1 speakers and recievers for a living room is a waste of money. The kind of recievers you are talking about are caliberated to perform in a closed env for optimum performace. You are going to experience a lot of sound reflection, distortion and seepage in an open area. Its like trying to knit with a sword instead of a needle. | ||

Living room lo simple/inexpensive setup cheste, onkyo would suffice. If you plan to put top dollars in basement setup, go for better components. | ||

Make sure you buy good quality HDMI cables. The loss of signal strength is compounded by the length of the cable. If you plan to host your receiver, media player and cable box in a seperate enclosure make sure its ventillated. The temperatures can get really high deactivates/ burns out the equipment. hiding the equipment definately adds to the feel of the theatre and you have a plethora of options wrt universal remotes good in wall speakers are relatively expensive when compared to towers for the same sound quality. Its a tradeoff between apperance vs quality with price being constant. Also servicing in walls can be a biatch. Your call. | ||

Ok..One more thread on media room. Help needed on the following things. 1) wall mount , which can hold 65 inch TV ...ippudu 55 vundi ..one year lo 65-70 ki vellali ani plan. 2) HDMI cables ..how many i need for wall mount. The guy told me to get 2 HDMI cables of 16 ft. ..not sure why 2? 3) In wall speaker wires. any idea which is good? 4) Last one ... Are in wall speakers best or out side wall speakers are best ..?
