LOL...I did read your first post and that is where I didn't agree with you... Muhamad made no contributions? You and I may not agree with lot of things in it....But quran is considered the best book ever by many out there....and atleast it is original.... and regarding Jesus...you want to believe everything the church says about him, including healing powers..but you will not give him credit for his teachings....what he taught may already be known to Indians, but to many in the west, it is new and original. and Yes..Dalailama is considered a reincarnation of his predecessor by his followers, but he is not considered GOD; and he doesn't proclaim he is one... unlike sai baba goru..LOL | ||

dude, did you read my first post? i clearly talked abt two categories: those who made intellectual contributions and those who inspired common people. and i clearly told buddha belongs to both categories. sankaracharya/jiddukm/st.thomas/ nietzsche lantollu first category ani kooda cheppanu. jesus/muhammad/shirdi sai/satyasai/dalailama/etc belong to second category. do let me know jesus intellectual contributions. christian metaphysics came much much later with st. thomas etc etc - not from jesus himself. all the concepts that you take for granted today, i.e., God is in all of us, see HIM in yourself as much as you see HIM in me. love is the ultimate form of all worship, so love thy neighbor as much as you love yourself .. these were all concepts that this Baba managed to spread to his devotees. nothing revolutionary in concept but dumbed them down to the common man. THAT is his contribution. he may not appeal to you at an intellectual level but he has, to millions of people at their most base level. ultimately, human beings need hope. Babas like these give that hope to the common man who has no time or capacity to analyse complicated philosophies and resort to intellectual masturbation. when in times of distress, these people do a simple prayer, hope that things work out and look up to him as their savior. so long as he does not lead them to do crazy things, what's the beef? | ||

Jesus walking on water, declaring himself to be the son of god, today's easter celebration, healing people with his touch, etc etc gaining him followers and posing a threat to the then ruling groups (romans/jews/whoever) who in turn killed him - this is the Jesus who people follow and I am commenting on this person.. adi later church's creation aa leka his then followers beliefs aa anedi irrelevant for all practical purposes after 2000 years.. As for Buddha, I put him in the second category in the sense that he inspired not just people who philosophize and debate, but also lots of commoners just like all others in that category.. but i agree he's different.. I don't think Jesus ever proclaimed that he is God...Christianity as an organized religion came into force much later...and that is when they attributed divinity to Jesus...I just think Jesus was a good man who preached good things, and in the process attained a few followers in his life time... Coming to Budhdha, it is even more clear...He never proclaimed himself as God or prophet...In fact, that question doesn't even arise as he was an atheist (If I may use that word). Dalailama is not a self proclaimed leader either....He was picked at a very early age and taught and put through the rigours of monk life, so that he can lead the monastery when he is ready....He is a very well learned and knowledgeable person; not only with matters of religion, but also world affairs. His thoughts and books are well read and appreciated both in the east and in the west. He is not only a spiritual leader, but the leader of a nation, albeit in exile. Muhammad - no comments... To put Baba goru, Jesus, Budhdha and Dalailama in the same sentence itself is mind baffling to me!! | ||

Meeru cheppina vallantha contributed at an intellectual level even if not at the levels of a Sankaracharya/Thomas/Nietzsche.. I don't think satyasai, shirdi sai etc belong to these categories.. Jesus, Muhammad, Shirdi Sai, Satya sai, Dalailama etc can probably lumped into the same category of self-declared gods/prophets.. Jesus probably had a few hundred followers in his lifetime, Muhammad a few thousands, Shirdi Sai a few thousands, Satya Sai a few lakhs, Dalai lama, a small country. Over the years, inflation etc adjust chesukunte they are all probably on the same scale in their lifetimes.. tharvatha management baagundi chesaru kabatti jesus muhammad baaga success ayyaru.. shirdi sai became reasonably successful in the last 20-30 years.. now satyasai's management will decide his legacy.. buddha is an exception in the sense he can be said to belong to both the categories.. with a good success in the first category, but reasonable for now in the second category..
