Was he eliminated because of his deep involvement in the statehood movement? The Telangana protagonists think so. They see a clear conspiracy behind the murder to suppress the Telangana movement and send a strong message to those fighting for the statehood cause. âIt is clear that Sambasivudu was murdered because he is a committed soldier of Telangana. I see a pattern in this murder. It was done as per the recommendations of the Justice B N Srikrishna Committee which wanted the government to suppress the movement at any cost,â the revolutionary balladeer and Telangana Peopleâs Front leader Gaddar said. The TRS leadership also believes that the murder of one of their key leaders was linked to the efforts to contain the movement. âThe central and state governments are responsible for this murder,â the TRS Floor Leader Eetela Rajender said. Sambasivudu was hacked to death by unidentified assailants in Nalgonda district on Saturday night. He was attacked while returning after attending 'Telangana dhoom dham', a cultural programme. Sambasivudu, who was allegedly involved in attacks on former chief ministers N. Chandrababu Naidu and N. Janardhan Reddy, had surrendered to the police two years ago and subsequently joined TRS. While his family members alleged that police were involved in the killing, the Nalgonda District Superintendent of Police denied any role by the police in the killing. |
