asala ee witch hunting avasaram why care about Sri Gobles Kutra Kammateee :D

The Justice BN Srikrishna Committee on Telangana issue, whose secret note has come in for all round criticism, is likely to be hauled up by the Legislative Council for its damning observations on the statehood movement. A group of Telangana MLCs, belonging to Congress, has given a notice of privilege against the five-member panel.

The MLC Chairman Chakrapani has assured to consider it and take necessary follow-up action. If he admits the privilege motion, then the Srikrishna Committee members and its chairman and former Supreme Court judge Justice BN Srikrishna could be summoned to the House and pulled up for violating the rights of MLCs.

The MLCs K R Amos, K Yadava Reddy, Jagadeeswar Reddy and Bhanuprasad submitted a privilege notice the Council Chairman, contending that the Chapter 8 of the SRK report contained several observations that amounted to insulting the elected representatives of Telangana region and hence action should be taken against the Committee members.

According lead stories in 'Andhra Bhoomi and 'Andhra Jyothy, the Telangana MLCs would insist on initiating legislative action against the SRK Committee members as the report amounted to breach of privilege of the House. The panel members should be summoned to the House and handed out appropriate punishment by the Legislative Council, they argued.

The secret note of the 500-page report has already angered Telangana proponents as it presented a scary law and order situation if the state is bifurcated. It said that Telangana would become an 'epicenter for Maoist and communal violence if AP is divided. The Telangana Political Joint Action Committee has already demanded prosecution of the Committee members for giving a misleading report.

All the leading dailies gave prominent coverage to the Union Minister and in-charge of AP affairs Gulam Nabi Azad’s failure to get both Telangana and Seemandhra MPs together to the table and talk. Azad had separate meetings with Telangana and Seemandhra MPs and his efforts to get them together for a joint meeting and a group photo had failed.

The Telangana MPs had made it clear to him that they would not sit together with their Seemandhra counterparts. Such a gesture would have serious backlash in their constituencies, they said.

The Telangana MPs also set June 1 as the new deadline for the Centre to make an announcement on Telangana issue, failing which they would be forced to resign for the statehood cause.

In its lead story, 'Eenadu highlighted the climb-down made by both the Congress and the opposition Telugu Desam Party in the Assembly on the raging demand for a Joint Legislature Committee (JLC) probe into the land allotments for private companies.

The government has agreed for such an inquiry but with a rider that the House first take up debate on the issue. The opposition has also softened its stand and agreed for a debate first.

However, 'Sakshi saw this as part of 'match-fixing' between Congress and TDP to defame the previous YSR regime. It was ironical that TDP President N Chandrababu Naidu, whose regime had started the trend of allotting prime government lands to private developers in the name of Special Economic Zones (SEZs), was now demanding inquiry into land allotments made during YSR tenure, the report said.
