Rafa easy ga straight kottestad ..09 Flushing lo Rafa meeda baa aadadu, finals lo Fed was too leniant and took very lightly and paid the price .. ********************** THAT 09 final was one heck of a match. the way fed played the 1st set - any active tennis player would have been bageled. fed's game was at its heavenly best. he was "floating like a butterfly and stinging like a bee". 2nd set ending lo fed suddenly decided to show the world that he can win a forehand-forehand slug-fest with dp and by the time he realised that was a bad idea, delpo had become a total beast to play with. his forehand was totally MONSTROUS by the time 5th set came calling. one of those rare matches where fed lost focus and chose the wrong tactics. he was guided more by his arrogance and less by his mind. if he won that match, fed would have had 4slams in a row = roger slam! oh well! "I think its time Fed calls it a day and spend with his twin babies or else do the commentary thing for Star sports as Mcenroe does ! " ************************************************* no way! fed plans to play till atleast he is 35 and maybe even beyond (body permitting). i wish he would still play doubles like martina did. fed on a doubles court can take tennis-viewership to another level. i have not seen him play doubles live, but on tv, he is unbelievably good at doubles. all his magical attributes are in display in full glory. predator like movement, cat like reflexes, absolutely steady-like-surgeon's hands and all the bag full of federer-special trick shots are exhibited. i think his game flows so much better in doubles as he is pressure-free compared to singles. i am loving it that fed keeps taking these blows from younger guys and keeps coming back to reel off some important silverware. i love this "winning ugly" roger. let us see how long he can soldier on. allez roger! yes wawa = wawrinka and yes he is swiss. fed and wawa are the reigning olympic doubles gold medalists  i think fed has gotta work on his volleying. he was extremely good at volleying in the beginning of the last decade, but as the conditions were slowed down by the atp, fed put his volleys in the locker (like how the pandavas hid their weapons on a tree when they went into exile.... lol) but right now with his movement slipping up a little from his very best, he needs to rediscover his magical volleying abilities. nadal is spot-on with his passing shots, but in the uso final, novak kept going to the net on rafa's backhand and covering up the cross-court passing shot and rafa always kept getting the ball back to novak and rarely went down the line( i dont even remember if he even did it once). a good coach would spot some such exploitable strategies i am sure. another idea i have heard is to go middle of the court with the approach shot and let rafa create the angle. i have never seen anyone do that against rafa. anyway, super saturday in indianwells - delpotro VS rafa and fed Vs dj. the last time that happened, delpo won his 1st grandslam in 2009 beating rafa 2 2 and 2 in the semis and then beating fed in 5sets. fed has got to make the semis a north-south game and not get yoyo-ed by dj east to west! his serve must be 2009 wimbledon final like because dj is in sublime return form. i cannot see fed winning more than a set, but with fed there is no guarantee - if djokovic even slips a little, fed will run away with the match. delpo-rafa, i am thinking rafa will be having revenge on his mind. delpotro is one of those rare guys with a positive head to head against rafa, so i am sure rafa wants to take care of that. delpotro is coming back from injury and is not playing at his uso 2009 level, so i will say delpo wins a set atmost! that will set up a beautiful djokovic-nadal showdown on sunday (if that happens fed will lose his no.2 ranking to dj) What the executioner did after he was done with his job. djokovic served badly in this match. federer has some hope if dj serves like this. i just hope fed makes this a north-south movement game and not a lateral movement game. he will have to use the kick serve a lot on 2nd serve and throw in some body serves and he definitely has to be sharp with the volleying. before that fed has to beat wawa in singles in a match starting in 15minutes and he and wawa play nadal/lopez in the doubles semi-final at 6pm pt What the executioner did after he was done with his job.
