Ali Sagar Lift Irrigation Scheme Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy dedicated the Ali Sagar Lift Irrigation Scheme on November 4th 2007. Dedicating the Alisagar lift irrigation scheme, the first project completed under ambitious Jalayagnam in Telangana, here on Sunday, the Chief Minister said an additional 1.04 lakh acres would be irrigated in the district by completing the Argul Rajaram Gutpa and the Choutupally Hanumantha Reddy lift schemes in the next couple of months. Thanking engineers and technocrats for completing the Alisagar more or less in the set time limit, he said:“My life has got a meaning as I could keep the word made to the people. Sonia Gandhi unveiled a pylon and switched on the pump house, Ms. Gandhi expressed amazement at the magnitude and size of the Rs. 3,500-crore project after seeing the huge pipelines that originate at the intake structure and disappear into Eturu Nagaram forests on way to Dharmasagar, 135 kms away. Devadula heralds a new era in irrigation in Telangana as water from the Godavari will be lifted to higher contours with the help of lifts, avoiding gravity canals.
