Behind The Scene: KCR Statue In Kurnool? How about installing a statue of Telangana Rashtra Samithi president K Chandrasekhar Rao in the heart of Kurnool city? It may sound weird in these days of regional polarization but that is what minister for minor irrigation T G Venkatesh has promised to do. However, he adds a rider to it. If KCR supports the cause of integrated state, then his statue will be erected in Kurnool. “I will personally ensure that KCR is honoured and his statue installed in the heart of Kurnool even when he is still alive,” Venkatesh, a leader of “Rayalaseema Parirakshana Samithi”, said. Taking potshots at KCR in the wake of destruction of statues of several Telugu icons on Tank Bund during “Million March” rally recently, Venkatesh said it was unfortunate that the TRS chief was maintaining silence over the violent acts of Telangana agitators. “When he was a minister in the TDP government, KCR never tried to get statues of Telangana personalities installed anywhere in the region. There was not even a single occasion when he even spoke about them,” the Minister pointed out. In his capacity as president of TRS, KCR never bothered to take up installation of statues of Telangana heroes anywhere in his constituency or the region, he said. Equating vandalizing statues to sedition and treachery, Venkatesh accused TRS leadership of trying to politicize statues issue.  |
