Thanks Bobby and Kings.. So its not good for guys who stay here for long time and go back without citizenship. Even if I earn 40 points and don't become citizen..then all the money I paid is going to be loss for me. Hope they do something on this soon and we can claim that back. | ||

Unknown mama If you want that SSN benefits back, first of all you have to be a permanent residense (GC). If you want to go back to India permanantely, if you want your SSN benefits, it's better take the US citizenship and go back to India, then you will get your SSN and Medicare benefits. But there is a catch here, if you want full benefits of SSN and medicare, you have to earn atleast 40 points, it menas you have to work atleat 10 years, becasue per year you will earn only 4 points, even if you are earning a million dollars per year. | ||

Question for seniors here.. A person on H1 or L1 visa working here would be paying a lot of amount as Social security and medicare tax every month. If that person earns enough credits (like 40+), s/he will be eligible for SS and medicare benefits after retirement. My question is, what happens to that money if s/he goes back to India for good and never comes back. Can that amount be claimed or requested from US Govt. Pls shed some light on this. ThanQ :-) |
