I forgot to say yesterday that the other option to get furniture at a cheap price is to buy via craigs list. They should be able to find a ikea bedroom set etc if they keep looking everyday or every other day.

The Ikea malm queen bed only costs 400 or so and I think the mattress costs another 400 to 600. My friends bought them and it wasn't really difficult to put them together. They just need to get a uhaul truck or big car and drive to Cincinatti.

Another friend bought a leather sofaset at valucity 3 years back and it still looks great. So, may be valucity is not such a bad idea.
