The NRI cell of the state has received specific information that nearly 10,000 AP students in the US have migrated to other âsham universitiesâ like TVU. They did this after obtaining study visas to get admissions into âgood universitiesâ since the sham ones allowed them to work off-campus for nearly 50 hours a week, which is illegal. Official sources said the 10,000 students from AP would be in trouble if the US Federal authorities cracked down on these universities as a follow-up to the TVU fiasco. They said thousands of AP students migrated to universities like Herguan University, Stratford University, University of North Virginia and Silicon Valley University after obtaining I-20s and F1 visas to study in âreputed universities.â Officials warned AP students to set things right in the US at the earliest and move back to the âreputed universitiesâ before they landed in trouble and faced deportation. Several students who had earlier received mastersâ degrees from reputed universities, took admission in universities like TVU to maintain US visas. Meanwhile, the fate of the TVU students will be decided in a next few days when the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement will announce guidelines for the students caught in the controversy. TVU students informed over phone that âcase-specificâ guidelines may be issued. âThose who have jumped the education visa for work may face deportation,â said a student. He added that students who have been pursuing studies with proper visa would either be relocated to other universities or would get an option to go back. |
