Amazon’s stock hit by margin concerns http://www.marketwatch.com/story/microsoft-amazon-results-in -late-trading-mix-2011-01-27?dist=afterbell LOS ANGELES (MarketWatch) — Amazon.com Inc.’s shares tumbled Thursday evening after the online retailer’s operating margins missed Wall Street’s projection. Amazon shares /quotes/comstock/15*!amzn/quotes/nls/amzn (AMZN 168.00, -16.45, -8.92%) slid 9.7% to $166.35, wiping out their regular-session gain of 5.2%. The company said fourth-quarter operating margins were 3.8%, below the 4.2% margin that analysts had been expecting. It also forecast first-quarter operating income of $260 million and $385 million — implying a margin range of 2.9% to 3.9%. Analysts currently expect 5% operating margins for the period. And it crashed 17$ a share from today's high?? |
