U see coke ....abhijit is a character....whoever knows him will know that the marriott manager had it coming when they rejected his offer for a corporate rate...I dont know abhjit well at that time...infact at first when i saw him i thought him of a boring geek....abhijit is from calcutta and he went to IIM....he is highly competitive...never takes no for an answer....he looks like lord vinayak and his wife is a head turner and she is like sharmila tagore....he loved her and even with his physique acting as a hindrance he bowled her over and married her...with in few years of joining cap gemini he became a senior manager and in 5 years he became head of cgi sap practice...he is a go getter n street smart n also a geek n a brainy genius... But I didnt know at that time about him all this .... so i thought next week i need to book at some cheap hotel near a suburb and drive every day 30mins to work...so when i told abhijit "abhijit do u want me to look for some other hotel as 170 is too much to pay every day?" ...abhijt looked at me n smiled n said..."No"...then I asked "so we going to pay 140 or 130 that manager has offered" abhijit again smiled and said "No"....and he changed topic and we flew to our homes.... And I came on monday cursing my granpa for not becoming a billionaire and making me work for a living and settled into my cube...and its 6pm...and on mondays we dont go out for dinners as we r tired with travel...we order room service...so I packed and was ready to goto hotel and then I realized Damn no reservations and I donno wats the deal with abhijit...So I ran to abhijit....Abhijit was buttering the cao of the firm trying to cut some deal to give the technical develeopment also to cap gemini....and he looked at me and saw I was about to leave and understood my confusion and rised his hand n told me to wait....and I waited....Abhijit retunred after 10mins and opened his laptop....and he was on the phone with his 5yr old kid....talking in bengali... And casually he opened the website "www.priceline.com" and name my own price....he selected the city and the area as downtown and he selected the star level up n beyond 3.5 and he gave the price "55" and then he turned to me and asked..."This is summer right?" .... I didnt know wat the hell he meant and Iam weak in seasons at that time...so i slight pulled my shirt front and sniffed my self and realized i was stinking with sweat so I said "Yes its summer".....so abhijit deleted 55 and entered his price as 40 and then he entered all the required info and prssed the magic button for the deal.... and wat a deal it is for 40 dollars we got the the same marriott that rejected our longterm deal of 75dollars....and i was blown away...abhjit printed the confirmations and we went to marriott....and the manager was there by chance and abhijit looked at him smiled and said "do u know how much we paid today for this room" manager said "how much" abhijt showed the price...managers face changed.... next day we woke up and we checked out as we dont have reservation on next day....and that evening again before going to dinner at work and abhijii did the bidding again...this time we got someother hotel and the marriott manager was spared... but on wednesday evening we got the marriott again...this time for 35$.... u see its summer time and we were bidding in a city which is famous for winter and which gets hot in summer and people avoid it....so abhijt is getting lucky... so went to marriott manager again with 35... and this onslaught went on for 4 weeks atleast with atleast 8 days in marriott for 35 or 40 or 45 or 43 or 42....the manager was going nuts....and finally one day he caught hold of abhijits hands and said "Please I cant take this anymore...I saw people paying for this hotel as much as 400$/nite during conferences....please dont bring disgrace to it with 35 or 45...I beg u...lets cut a deal and make it professional" he was crying literally.... and abhijit smiled..."Ok 75?" manager "100" Abhijit "75.50?" Manager "85.... please I beg u...cant go lower than this this is the most power they give me"....and now he is on his knees Abhijit " then concierge lounge for me and my staff" Manager "Anytime sir....free breakfast tooo" Abhijit "free internet" manager "yes sir....free free free" manager became cbn... then abhijit smiled and shook hands and I was in awe of the master of negotiations....he can negotiate a million dollar sap deal or a 50 dollar hotel deal with equal panache and with a good rate of succesful outcome... so coke...if the hotel guy wont cut u a deal torture him with priceline.... This is a true event dramatized for db purposes | ||

Coke always remember traveling is an art...living out of suitcases is a performance...u can travel like a zombie but u can also make it exciting and profitable... always remember be responsible with ur expenses as it will impress ur client... if u n ur fren or colleague with someone u share good rapport working n travelling to same client...always share cars...it will help to reduce the cost on car rental...client happy...but u both dont stay in same hotel room..they get doubts n risky if they r narrow... then always plan ur travel ahead....3 or 4 weeks ee roju nundi plan chesi undali tickets booked like that...appudu air tckts cheap... then hotel... mee client ki corporate rate lekapothey u cut a deal with them...enthati star hotel iina sarey 85 maximum istha ani cheppu...business thesthanu ani seppu ingo 5 mandhidhi...and long term untam ani seppu...they will agree....iina agree kakapothey oka brahmastram septha...ee asthram upayoginchi ny nundi sfo varaki , hilton nundi marriott varaki gada gada ladiccha....but thats the last resort.... | ||

Try to use one airline like AA or United (star alliance), same thing with hotels. You can accumulate lot of miles. Also, try to get a corporate amex card and you will not need to submit receipts. | ||
