Jai Bolo..' fails to impress the Boss!

Despite all the pre-release hype, âJai Bolo Telanganaâ has failed to impress the most important person among its targeted audience: Telangana Rashtra Samithi president K Chandrasekhar Rao. While the much-publicized movie is supposed to have glorified the cause of separate Telangana state, KCR was disappointed with its storyline and treatment.

When a special screening was arranged for him, it is learnt that he expressed dissatisfaction with the work. In fact, he is believed to have given a dressing down to the filmmaker for reducing it to a routine love story with only a sprinkling of the spirit of Telangana movement. Going by the initial impression during the shooting and the hype in the run-up to its release, one would have thought that the film was a tribute to the statehood movement and an out-and-out message-oriented venture.

However, KCR was unimpressed as it turned out to be a typical Tollywood love story in the backdrop of Telangana agitation. He did not mince words in telling the producer and director that it left no impact on him. Directed by N Shankar, the movie uses the footage of Telangana agitation and key sequences were shot at Osmania University campus, the nerve center of the movement.

In fact, KCR had penned a song for the movie and also made a guest appearance. Starring Jagapathi Babu and Smrithi Irani in lead roles, the movie has songs written by leading Telangana poets including revolutionary balladeer Gaddar.
