Desperate to inherit YSR’s political legacy, Kiran has gone a step further and made a sensational claim that it was he who had “bailed out” Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy in a murder case. “When the opposition (TDP) was baying for his blood for his alleged involvement in the murder of a MLA, I had to work hard to defend him in the Assembly,” the Chief Minister said during a meeting with party workers. Kiran claimed that he had worked tirelessly for 60 days to prepare a strong case in defence of Jagan since the allegation against him was of serious nature. “YSR had so much faith and confidence in me that that he never asked me what sort of case I was building up to save his son from opposition onslaught. I worked with YSR for more than two decades and was his staunch loyalist,” Kiran claimed. He made it clear that it was because of the party high command’s blessings that YSR could gain in stature and become Chief Minister twice. “Whoever leaves the party will not survive,” the Chief Minister and asserted that Congress was the sole inheritor of YSR’s political legacy and not his family members. |
