After installing the codec pack, today I tested bunch of movies from LG Bluray player. I could play about every format except .mkv and couple of badly encoded videos. Thanks a lot Raogaru. Satti kaka, I upgraded the memory on the MediaSmart server to 4 GB. It performs much better now. It is helps the file caching with bigger buffer. | ||

Btw, most of us have already tried WMP as a first option and then moved on to Tversity etc as wmp's capabilities are very limited. Whatever you do in life will be insignificant. But it's very important that you do it  | ||

Played few movies of different formats. Looks much better. Thanks a lot. Will test more.
This installation is on WHS which based on 2003 Windows Home Server. Windows update on the server would not put WMP 11. That needs to be installed manually. | ||

I installed WMP11 with no trouble. Now installing the codec pack. Power-amp is just a big ass multi-channel amplifier. The weakest link in (budget) receivers is the amplifier section. So, you can connect the pre-outs from the receiver to power-amp and power-amp to speakers. Ideally speaking, you have to use pre-amp + power-amp combo. But, we can use receiver as pre-amp. | ||

So, mediapack install cheyyamantavu. Tried that and still could not play some formats. Basically, torrents nundi download chesta kabatti, video formats different ga untayi. For now, installed the Mezzmo server which is serving all my devices including PS3 and bluray player. It is not free product, but played little pirate role  | ||

ps3mediaserver and traversity...they transcode some formats so that...they can be playable...in ps3...which creates temporary files...and streaming is not smooth. with WMP + Media Pack....we can stream anything....smoothly (net speed also matters)... What is new in that method? This is how everyone I know streams, to begin with. Then they come across some formats that PS3 can not play. Finally they end up installing Tversity or PS3 MediaServer. | ||

one more thing....this sharing has to be enabled from...admin account....and will work all the times....even when you are in guest/anyaccount.....(starts a windows service in the system account). found to be very light weight.....process in the background.... have fun. you can have....playlists also....which ps3 detects. dump everything ps3mediaserver/any software....that you have to stream static files....and stick with....windows default WMP (need to upgrade to 11....not tested with old versions....as i had 11 version in my pc)....more elegant and easy. i am using....windows media player 11...to stream to ps3 (should work with any device). 1. start windows media player 2. library....media sharing....share my media.... 3. proceed and select the folders.... can stream auido, video, images....to ps3 (or any device).... some of the videos....wont play with WMP, install media pack....which plays almost all videos like vlc. (when you start ps3....scan for media servers....you will see a WMP icon....depending upon configuration either....you can trust any device or ...selective device from pc).
