lol older than hinduism anta...that woman got some nerves...as if she knows when hinduism actually originated...typical western smarty pants method of claiming everything...if hinduism was a way of living, yoga was part of the lifestyles of some vedic people...ayina mana government ki buddhi vundaali. Bushu:
One wrong word in a statement can make such a huge difference in convincing a reader of the intent ... The cause may be good , the intent may be to get credit for Hinduism, but in using the word "brand" the whole moral aspect of the 'give credit where its due" is lost ... HAF needs to bemore careful on how they present... or they come out sounding like they want to control the "brand" of yoga ... The discussion in the comments is really good Quoting Mr Bhaskar Chatterjee from the comments- "The word "Yoga" is derived from Sanskrit root "yug" which means "to join", or unite. The ancient and foundational text on Yoga "Yoga Sutras" of Patanjali clearly shows the Sutras were not set of physical postures as some people claim today, but has deep Philosophical meaning rooted in Hinduism. Philosophically Yoga means union of the self (Jivatma) with the Universal self(Paramatma). This concept of self,or sacredness of self & possibility of unity with universal self thro' certain means is unique to Hinduism alone" aa chal ke tujhe main leke chalu ik aise gagan ke tale jahan gam bhi na ho, aansoo bhi na ho,bas pyaar hi pyaar pale |

Bushu:Ms. Desmond believes that yoga originated in the Vedic culture of Indo-Europeans who settled in India in the third millennium B.C., long before the tradition now called Hinduism emerged.
