Maverick:in general what problems could it be..the signal is good according to their devices..but sometimes when i do random test on speedtest, its down to 2mbps or 1.5
I suffered with this for 2 years one time and 1 year one time. During that time, I changed modems, routers, etc etc. But the root cause was different. First time: There was moisture in the cable that runs from box to your home. When they replaced it, it worked on. Second time: The connectors (actual connector that joins the inside able to outside line) in the house box was bad. He put a new connector and it is working well. If everything is good, Ask them the give you a booster that boosts the signal. (It happened one in the past). Chiranjeevi Antarangam: Rajani nannu Mosam Chesaadu. Shankar, okka chance ivvu... please...

That's fine. When I switched to boost plan with Cablevision (paying $10 more), they replaced the modem for me. Now, I am getting 30 mbps speeds with no issues. |

Dma: If you are getting a service from your ISP where download speed > ~50 MBPS, DOCSIS 2 can not handle and you will have to get DOCSIS 3.

Simba:Why would you buy the modem yourself? Isn't your ISP providing one along with the service?
They do not provide for free in our area. It is $5 per month rent. Buying is easy. With the ISP, it was $130 or so for DOCSIS 3 and I bought a month old one in craigslist for $50. Chiranjeevi Antarangam: Rajani nannu Mosam Chesaadu. Shankar, okka chance ivvu... please...

Maverick:does it really boost the speed?i am having speed issues
Having DOCSIS 3 itself does not solve problems. If you are getting a service from your ISP where download speed > ~50 MBPS, DOCSIS 2 can not handle and you will have to get DOCSIS 3. Because, DOCSIS 3 is a better technology, you may have some cleaner throughput but over all, your problems are due to something else. Have your uys check your cable connectors to start with. I had similar issues and I bought a DOCSIS 3 modem, which did not solve the problems. After they fixed other problems, my old DOCSIS 2 worked as good. If your old one is broken, then buy DOCSIS 3 otherwise, have them fix the root cause. Chiranjeevi Antarangam: Rajani nannu Mosam Chesaadu. Shankar, okka chance ivvu... please...
