My take is very pragamtic. I think Vastu, feng shui all these evolved to help people build to optimise the use of natural resources - sunlight, wind, rain, plant life based on the life styles of the people at that location. Oka location lo rules inko location with a completely different topography ki transpose cheste the effects are completely opposite too - instead of harmony with the land and nature you cause more problems. SImple example - India lo chinnappudu evenings used to spent in the front porch/yard - makes sense to have an east facing house - evening shade lo pillalaki aadukotaniki , adults ki socialise cheyyataniki untundi. In the US evenings are spent in the back yard . The backyard is pretty much unsuable in the evening in my east facing hoouse in Texas heat Chali pradesallo you have to maximise direct sunlight into the house- not in hot places. Monsoon - wind current direction should define the alignment of windows - and these differ from place to place. Vastu says water should drain to the north east - what is the point of trying to re-level a plot with an opposite gradient ?
