chaala pedda disco .. konni highlights ivi .. * Central govt wanted to allot flats to people from armed forces, particularly the kargil heroes * The owner ship of the land is either with the Navy or the state govt - there is a dispute on this, as of today * the land in colaba, south mumbai - comes under coastal regulatory zone - 2, where any construction should not exceed 30 metres * the promoters of the building wrote to the state govt asking for the land that they "want" to build flats for kargil martyrs and defense heroes * the response of the state govt is unclear .. the land was transferred to the society (Adarsh society .. LOL) * Ashok Chavan, todays MH CM, then revenue minister, initiated the process of transfer, signed by the CM of the day, Vilas Rao Deshmukh. In the middle, another CM of Maha, Sushil Kumar Shinde also signed some documents on the state govt's behalf. Both are important ministers in todays central govt. * Environment regulations were violated to construct the building * plan of 6 floors was changed to 31 floors * total martyrs allotted flats - only 2. As per Hindustan Times journalist, they are fake names as their families could not be traced till date. Army has no information on who they are!!! * Each flat today costs Rs 8.5 crores was allotted for Rs 8.5 lakhs. Exactly 1% of the costs! * 2 Ex-army chiefs and 1 navy chief also received flats (I am wrong, looks like my confidence is misplaced and they had a hand in the scam) * Suresh Prabhu (from Siva Sena) was allotted a flat. Many MH govt officials and bureaucrats are alloted flats. The promotors are some Thakur and Kanhayyalal Gidwani (Cong MLC, Mumbai, was in Siva Sena at that time) mind boggling .. shameful and sad reflection of the sorry state of affairs in India .. well .. my view is .. yes, there is lots of corruption that goes in the name of armed forces .. kaani at the top .. usually the people are not much corrupt .. brigadiers, commanders level lo chala ne corruption untundi .. see .. ika ee particular case ki vasthe .. Adarsh society ni only 6 floors and some 36 families ki plan chesaru first in 2001 .. around 2004-06 time lo .. the designs were changed and it was decided that the apartment would be of 31 floors and some 105 flats .. it could have been that .. once the rules were violated and flouted .. the politicians who were handling the issue could have allotted some of those to armed forces chiefs .. just so to give a impression that the activities are clean .. well, its simply my guess though .. kaani naa feeling enti ante .. armed forces top brass .. corruption nunchi dooram ga untaru .. !!! A Defence Ministry probe has 'prima facie' found a 'criminal conspiracy' in the controversial Adarsh Housing Society project in Mumbai, where several former service chiefs, politicians and bureaucrats were allegedly given flats at throwaway prices. The probe, ordered by Defence Minister A K Antony this week, has also 'not ruled out' collusion of some officers with the high rise promoters, sources said here today. "In fact, prima facie there appears to be a criminal conspiracy (in the Adarsh Society controversy).
