Food inflation is likely to persist for a long period. The World Bank said that the prices of most of the food crops will be higher than the level of 2004 till 2015. Global wheat prices rose by 181 per cent over the last 3 years and overall global food prices increa-sed by 83 per cent. “Food crop prices are expected to remain high in 2008 and 2009 and then begin to decline, but they are likely to remain well above the 2004 levels till 2015 for most food crops,” says a World Bank policy note. “In India there is a shortfall of 4 million tonnes of wheat and two million tonnes of pulses and we don’t see any way that it could be fulfilled very soon,” said an analyst with CII. “There is no likelihood of prices of the essential commodities easing in India in the coming months unless the government int-ervenes,” he added. | ||

So the choices we are left with is: Basmati Rice --> which is best and most suitable for eating of course you need to get used to the aroma Jasmine Rice or some other rice --> Get used to the sticky feeling and get used to the aroma.. Wheat --> is not a cheaper alternative.. Only alternative left is ..make more money so that you don't feel the pinch...kaani ee recession time lo adi kooda kashtame  | ||

West Bengal is the highest producer of Rice in india but the least contributor of rice to PDS system ...enduku ante.. They want to smuggle rice (read export )to Bangladesh and then import (read smuggle) potential voters (and suicide bombers) into India...
