http://voices.washingtonpost.com/local-opinions/2010/10/has_ google_blow_away_mcdonnell.html The Internet giant and Good Energies, a New York investment firm, announced a $5 billion project to install underwater transmission lines to carry power from future wind turbines up to 20 miles off the East Coast from Virginia to New Jersey. Too me it seems that this "green" project is really just to connect the power grid from Virginia (where cheap electricity is available from coal power plants) to New Jersey (where electricity costs are high). This would possibly bring in a profit of $3 bil per year. Let me know your thoughts on this. Is this the true reason behind the Google Wind Farm? |
