Khaleja: The movie that was: The maker's vision of a personal god befitting the need of the masses, dictated by circumstance is as age old as the dumbness of human race itself. In as much as it is a wrong and unreasoned premise, the maker can be granted such liberty as it is common place to view god to fit into the needs of "special" human race. The notion of a savior dispensing of an evil plaguing a set of seemingly innocent people is a thing that has been beaten to death in Indian cinema. It beats my imagination how every villager is shown to be a pure-hearted samaritan being tormented by evil city dwellers. Did I say emotional black mailing...err lets move on.... Trivikram is credited to make what is called the near perfect Telugu pot boiler in the last 15 years. I am a very finicky man and can't stand rote for more than once. If there was a commercial Telugu movie that I saw more than twice, it is Athadu. So its natural to set the expectations for Khaleja on par with that product. That is the sole reason which might make Khaleja a confusing and at times irritating watch. Its awesome in patches and sub par in places too. One get the feeling that they never made the movie with a bound script. They had an outline and they wrote the screen play after they shot a bunch of scenes. On top of it wanted to fit a formula to the whole narrative to make matters even worse. Mahesh.................Just out of this world.....It is always a thrilling experience to see talent bloom and mature into one wholesome form. If there is someone who can take the place of the ruler of Tollywood for sheer talent combined with looks and attitude, it should be him....there is no other match even in remote contention. After this performance, I proudly claim that I admire Mahesh amongst telugu heroes followed by Jr.NTR for their sheer talent quotient.This movie is about him and by him. Its almost incredible to see him with such energy on screen. He set the screen abalze. Others: Inconsequential and mostly redundant. Trivikram: If this movie failed to capture the imagination of some one, it is trivikram alone. He failed as a screen play writer and as a maker. It was easy to sense his confusion, he wanted to project mahesh ahead of the plot and on top of it wove a formula to meet that end.....As I say...Art is greater than the artist anyday and this movie proves it again....A movie is a director's vision and an actor should only aid that....not override it......... rating: well err...if u have3 hours to kill.....u can watch it once.for mahesh alone....2/5.
