Replace the old router with new one, without changing the setup. It should be: ISP Modem -> Vonage Device -> Wireless Router |

simba - just to update you. i brought synology ds 209 nas. I didn't go for hp ex servers as they are too much for my requirements. oka 2TB WD drive thosa prasthuthaniki. everything is working super fine. able to stream movies to my lcd tv using lg bd570 on wifi. no 1080p streaming though on wifi. but very much happy with this setup. and i can access my nas over internet and over iphone. and all torrents are d/l directly to nas. no need to keep my PC on all the time www.prajarajyam.org - syntax error, unexpected |

Kurrokurru, dd-wrt, tomato anevi 3rd party FWs. Antey simple gaa cheppalantey, HW nee router, but andulo run ayye FW, aa company vaadidi delete chesi, 3rd party FW nadapadam annamaata. Installation google lo search chesthey dorikindi appatlo, 2 hours chadivithey, update cheyyataaniki 15 mins kooda pattaledu. But, jagratha gaa cheyyaali, updating firmware stage lo power pothey, it will be bricked. Enduku paniki raakundaa ayipothindi. Highly customizable, and very robust antey dd-wrt. User-friendly ayithe most ppl suggest Tomato. http://www.amazon.com/Cisco-Linksys-WRT54GL-Wireless-G-Broad band-Compatible/dp/B000BTL0OA/ref=sr_1_1?s=gateway&ie=UTF8&q id=1285599719&sr=8-1 This is the one I am using. As Simba said, neeku future kaavalantey deenini just Bridge laaga vaadukovachu. Customization options ayithey abbooooooooo.....just for example oka feature, you can set times when a particular device (identified with MAC Address) can be allowed to connect. Kids unnaaru anuko, you can say kid's pc can be allowed to connect only from 5 pm to 8pm in the evening etc. An idea is like a Virus. |

Kurrokurru:ee dd-wrt enti? Koncham info ivvandi and how do we install in router inka emaina additional setup avasarama...router koni just cd install Cheyyali anthe kada initially...laptops lo inka emaina additional software avasarama
DD-wrt tomato these two are separate firmwares available from third party. you need to instal those firwares on top of your router. they provide some additional features to router on top of built-in features. You need to check whether they are compatible or not if you are purchasing new router. No need to instal anything on laptop except the first time running the CD came with router. www.prajarajyam.org - syntax error, unexpected |

Kurrokurru:Thanks for the info bro...3 laptops use chestham and all laptops ki same issue in connecting so issue router lo ne undi anukontunnanu..
just check the wi-fi driver version in each of the laptops with the manufacturer's latest driver version. if there is update, just upgrade. I strongly recommend this unless you want to invest on a new router. I faced this issue with twice with two laptops. one laptop used to drop the connection every minitue. it was so frustrating. after i upgrade to latest driver, it never dropped. i feel the dlink G you are running is fine. just upgrade the drivers on laptops and see. if it sill dropping then you can go for new router. you don't need to instal any firewalls on router. Its available via configuration in your router settings which is accessible via browser. www.prajarajyam.org - syntax error, unexpected |

Kurrokurru, find something that supports 3rd party FW and install dd-wrt or Tomato FW on the router. Your <$100 router can then act like $200 advanced routers. 'n' gurinchi idea ledu. Nenu vaaduthunnadi Linksys WRT<some> GL router. Indulo L antey Linux ani artham anukuntaa. So, it supports thirdparty linux based FWs. Nenu dd-wrt esaa. no drops in about 2 years. Awesome nadusthondi. FW maarchakamundu, it was dropping for short time, like 2 or 3 seconds disconnect ayyi malli connect ayyedi. This is not an issue at all for general browsing. But, gaming lo naaku chaala ibbandi gaa undedi, correct gaa okarini shoot chesetappudu connection drop ayithey katha kanchikey. That is why I switched to dd-wrt. An idea is like a Virus. |

Kurrokurru:. eppudu drop avutha untundhi..roju ki 3-4 times restart cheyalsi vastandhi.
1. Check the wi-fi adapter driver in your computer and update to latest driver. 2. Update to latest firmware in the router also. It never drops again. 'g' is more than enough for any downloads, office work, browsing, voip etc. You can go for 'n' if you are doing wireless streaming of videos, NAS, etc other activities. I am using netgear wnr3500L 'n' gigabit router..got it for $70 few months back. www.prajarajyam.org - syntax error, unexpected |
