Gharana Mogudu (Telugu: à°à°°à°¾à°¨à°¾ à°®à±à°à±à°¡à±) is a very popular telugu film which has Chiranjeevi, Nagma in the lead roles. The movie was directed by K. Raghavendra Rao and was a senstational hit. It was released on April 9, 1992. The movie was the first telugu film to gross over 100 million rupees. It made Chiranjeevi the highest paid actor in India, prompting him to be catapulted to cover pages of all national weekly magazines and India Today had a caption, "" Bigger Than Bachchan"". This film was a remake of Hit Kannada film Anuraaga Aralitu, acted by Legendary Dr.Rajkumar based on a Kannada Novel. This film was also remade as "Mannan" starring Rajini Kanth. There was a hindi remake of this movie named "Laadla" in which Anil Kapoor and Sridevi played the lead roles. It was not as commercially successful as southern versions. Box office performance * The film collected a distributors' share of Rs.13.5 million in its opening week.[1] * The film was a blockbuster with 100 days run in 56 centres[2] and a 175 days run in 3 centres[3] including a 183 day run in Sandhya 70mm, Hyderabad.[4] * It collected a share of Rs.40 million in 50 days and ended being the first Telugu movie to collect a distributors' share of Rs.100 million. * It was dubbed into malayalam as Hey Hero.It was a big hit in kerala also . It ran over 100 days in many centers in kerala and song "punnara peda mane" [ dubbing of bangaru kodi petta ] became very popular . |
