Email (partial content only) that I received from a donor: My mom was diagnosed with hep c two years back. She developed cirrohosis of liver when we found out which kind of limited us in giving interferon treatment(medicines and injections given when hep c is detected early stages before cirrohosis). She was doing fine until july of last year. She started developing lot of complications because of infections. She was in hospital for almost 2 months around july of last year. We were looking for treatment options and only option as per doctors is liver transplant. We checked in India and there were not many successful cases of liver transplant and we have to bring her here for liver transaplant. She is listed for liver transplant here. In my moms case, disease did not advance to the final stages like in Shiva Kumars case. In advance stages of liver disease, blood vomiting etc happens when blood starts accumulating near liver. I'm afraid to say that only thing that could help is liver transplant. And the hospitals in most of the cases give comfort care as per symptoms but eventually liver transplant is needed. There are very few places in India which does this. I can give more details when we talk. Given the scenario.... I'm planning to send Siva Kumar for a total body diagnosis before jumping onto any treatment. Take an expert advise first and then plan for treatment. Yes.. I did meet my target. I will put in detail by either end of this week or early next week with more details about this donation as well as Siva Kumar's health and the options that we tried for him so far. I'm getting some more money from my friends. Once I'm done with that I will close down the donation process and remove the 'Make A Donation' paypal link.
