Well, it is time for forming a new regional party by the superstar of tollywood,Mr.Chiranjeevi, in Andhrapradesh.He has proposed to formally float his new political outfit, a regional party of his own on April 4 th, 2008, the Telugu New Year day.He has already applied to the Election Commission of India asking for the allottment of a symbol to his newly proposed party.The interesting aspect of his request is that he has asked for the allottment of 'Rising Sun' as symbol of his newly proposed party. But DMK, the ruling party in Tamil Nadu has firmly said a 'no'for his request, because it was the party's symbol mooted out and deviced by their leader and the main architect of DMK, late. Annadurai, the former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu.DMK has got its own legitimate reasons for objections, because the 'Rising Sun' has been their symbol and mainstay since 1957,the year of inception of their party 'DMK'.Besides, the party has also argued that they have their party units in Andhrapradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, Pudhucherry and Andaman and so they cannot abdicate it to a newly proposed party. Under the circumstances stated above, the Kolywood Superstar has to seek some other symbol for his newly proposed party | ||

DMK objects to Chirus move to grab the sun sign Hyderabad/ Chennai, March 12: Telugu mega star Chiranjeevis wish to have the rising sun as his partys symbol may not be fulfilled. The request has been referred to the DMK by the Election Commission, but the party, which has treasured the symbol for years, is likely to say a firm no. I am not aware of any such communication, said a senior DMK leader. But if it comes, we will say no since the DMK has units in Andhra Pradesh and cannot afford to have problems when we put up our candidates in elections there in the future. Chiranjeevi is planning to announce his new party on April 7, the Telugu New Year day. The DMK leader added that the rising sun was intimately associated with the party for decades. Besides Tamil Nadu, where we are the ruling party, we have units in Karnataka, Maharashtra, Kerala, Pondicherry Maharashtra, Kerala, Puducherry and Andamans, said the senior leader. How can we allow our symbol, familiar in every household, to be taken away by another party? Meanwhile, top Telugu Desam leader and former minister, Mr Kotagiri Vidhyadara Rao, has decided to join Chiranjeevis party. Mr Vidhyadara Rao, a five-time MLA from Chintalapudi in West Godavari district, has been lying low for a year because of his differences with the party chief, Mr N. Chandrababu Naidu. Yes I have some differences with my boss, the TD leader told this correspondent. But I am yet to make up my mind. He added that Chiranjeevis decision to launch a party had created a stir in the district to which the actor belonged. Many other leaders including Mr Janakiram, brother of former TD minister, Mr K. Subbarayudu, openly announced their entry into the new party. Chiranjeevi is conducting brainstorming sessions with SC and BC leaders to decide the partys ideology, programmes and stance on Telangana issue. Noted leaders, Mr Karem Sivaji, Mr R. Krishnaiah, and Mr V.R. Naragoni are taking political classes for his fans. |
