take 3+3. If there are equal weight then consider rest of the three. now take 1+1...from the rest of three. If equal...then the remaining one is heavy weight. not...then whichever is heavy...is the one. If not equal then take the heavier one now follow the above sub procedure. take it ez... | ||

Cylone , 2 weighings only works if you know a ball is heavier.. lepote if set A is heavier - the anomaly could be in either set. 2 Chances lo seyocchu Lets put numbers to those balls as 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 Now set them in 3's Set A = 1 2 3 Set B = 4 5 6 Set C = 7 8 9 Now weigh Set A and Set B. 1. If both are equal then the odd ball is in C 2. If Set A is heavier then Set A has odd ball 3. If Set B is heaver then Set B has odd ball In any case you will drill down to 1 (with 3 balls) set that is heavier. Now assume Set A has the odd ball then weigh 1 each say 1 and 2 Set A = 1 2 3 1. If 1 is heavier then it is the odd ball 2. If 2 is heavier then 2 is the odd ball 3. If 1 and 2 are same then 3 is the odd ball In total we have weighed only twice. there are 9 balls of exactly same color size etc etc..but one of them is slightly heavy when compared to the rest... You are given a beam balance (but no weights) and asked to weigh ONLY TWICE and you have to identify the heaver ball howwww......tell me i say |
