I understand DB is not in the mood for these topics right now... but this is a movie that I have watched so many times, and after every view I get lost in a daze. Its pure poetry to eyes and ears. The movie was released in 2000, and it part of triology . All three films are great, but this one in particular is the best of them, but all three shouldnt be missed. The director/writer Wong Kar-wai a master, every scene gets etched in to the memory, every emotion on display makes us feel like they are trying to explode, yet subtle. One of the reasons is the breath taking music... it haunts and develops a nostalgia for things that have not yet happened, and may not even happen.... for a taste - here is one of the themes https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CydoHnlWpEI there are two composers, Michael Galasso and Shigeru Umebayashi, cant really put in to words, its just has to be experienced. Needless to say, I have been in the daze for the past few days .. again... The first time I heard about the movie is in 2003 or 2004, in oscar speech by Sofia Coppola, who thanked Wong Kar-Wai during her oscar acceptance speech, for Lost in translation - a movie I really liked at that time. after a couple of years, i accidentally found the movie VHS tape in the library, and have watched it regularly ever since. Bought the DVD set, and then blueray set. A dark room, whisky and this movie... and the subsequent hangover - priceless. |
