He can do shadow batting and continue with his quirks so long as he is not doing on the pitch. As they ignorance is not an excuse. He is experienced and leading batsman. ICC needs firm up the rules not to let anyone fielding side to meddle with the pitch and crease. | ||

Not trying to defend Smith here but from past few test matches I think he is having some mental issues, even when batting his has upped his antics such as saying aggressive no when there is no run and talking and acting to himself which doesn't look normal...this may have caused him to go and scratch the pitch...I think with this incident he won't be captain again... | ||

I do not think removing guard will cause any issues. this might just to cleanup pitch. this happened just after tea time. Anyhow batsman usually take guard very often when previous guard get distrubed. usually it vanish after people run over it. | ||
