A big automotive company gave contract to Indian consultancy company in 2008-09, the blended rate per hour was 7$ provided they get million billable hours.

This 7$/hr includes onsite as well with minimum ratio of 70:30 onsite vs offshore

No matter who works on the product, it is Boeing's duty to make sure they are releasing the BEST QUALITY product to the market.

They can't blame some dept/sub for the poor quality which costs human lives.

SHAME ON BOEING!!!

https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2019-06-28/boeing-s- 737-max-software-outsourced-to-9-an-hour-engineers?srnd=prem ium

Increasingly, the iconic American planemaker and its subcontractors have relied on temporary workers making as little as $9 an hour to develop and test software, often from countries lacking a deep background in aerospace -- notably India.

In offices across from Seattleâs Boeing Field, recent college graduates employed by the Indian software developer HCL Technologies Ltd. occupied several rows of desks, said Mark Rabin, a former Boeing software engineer who worked in a flight-test group that supported the Max.

The coders from HCL were typically designing to specifications set by Boeing. Still, âit was controversial because it was far less efficient than Boeing engineers just writing the code,â Rabin said. Frequently, he recalled, âit took many rounds going back and forth because the code was not done correctly.â
