Satya is amazing... the changes he made are very bold. If you told someone that MS core is going to be open source.. no body would have believed. he turned around by making alot of things that are proprietary, and made them open source and deinvested in "protecting" such assets. thats just one example. the patnerships with other entities he is making are long term and that is helping too. | ||

Even at the worst times, they were Number 2, after all other Number 1 products. If Sony had a playstation, Nintendo had a Switch, MSFT had an XBox already. Apple had iPod, MSFT introduced Zune, although not a major success. Java vs .NET, Unix vs Windows, they were right behind everything diversifying the best they could at all times. Bill Gates wanted Balmer to be gone. He put his weight behind Satya. Someone below saying he is at the right place at the right time. Balmer was going after Google (Bing) and Apple (Mobile). Both failed miserably. The current strategy is 100% Nadella's. Without that they are pretty much gone. Even Surface is doing better now. They can never beat AWS but they will take a lot of market share (that was on the table) from Amazon (from their own enterprise customers). Met him in Austin last year. | ||

from stock perspective - do not write off apple either. either this year or next year - they will release a 5G version and telecoms are catching up to them and a lot of apple users who r waiting on will jump on it and there would be a significant up side on the apple sales I dont know if it is this year or next year though. good buy for long run. and if you can bet on recession, and if it gets reality, buy when it goes down and its going to be even better. MSFT is going to go up from .NET/Azure side too. Oracle recently changed their licensing model for Java and started charging per server for java and some enterprises do not see a financial advantage for java anymore. previously .net was not cost effective as they had to be on windows servers which was expensive. but with .NET core, .net can be run on Linux and hence in near future, there is going to be a shift away from java.
