I think Indian Govt is aiming to replace all passenger vehicles with electric by 2025 and is also bringing new norms for diesel vehicles..and it will be tougher and not cost effective for manufacturers of diesel vehicles to comply For the same reason Fiat is discontinuing it's popular diesel engine (that is used in many by many India Auto manufacturers..including Maruti) | ||

the article is sensationalizing some thing which maruthi didnt say.. it is only for small cars and small cars ..but 90% maruti small carslo diesel yelaanu ledu  they may stop diesel variants in swift and baleno..but swift is hugely popular in taxi segment I doubt they will discontinue swift diesel variant.. dzire,ciaz,scross,brezza will continue to have diesel models ..scross and brezza may have petrol models too now..
