Was browsing thru the movies and chanced on this one - the blurb was interesting and it had Paresh Rawal and Om Puri - so started watching ... and was so glad I did .. A good premise, great script , beautifully executed... Paresh Rawal is stellar.. I don’t want to divulge the plot - and do watch without reading reviews.. Its the story of an auto mechanic caught between his principles and his community , set in Allahabad -the essence of the town captured beautifully by the camera.. The story takes its time , as it shows the growth of the characters ... from friends who can agree to disagree, to divisions across lines drawn by their leaders, to friends again , this is the best narrative built around Gandhian principles I have seen, and also does not hesitate to call a spade a spade..it is a tad preachy but that was the premise of the movie anyway ... just watch it ... The dialogs are thought provoking and also the lyrics to the songs are very good ... Don’t think it was marketed well else would have heard of the movie - it released in 2010- and that is just sad. I am surprised there was no controversy around it does not do the politically correct stuff - set in a Muslim milieu it focuses the preaching to muslims - maybe because social media was less of the beast then...
