Indian goverment is secular only in the words of constitution There are N number of laws and schemes that differentiates you based on your religion If you belong to certain religions you get scholarships, you can run your own educational institutions without any government interference (which includes no reservation seats for underprivileged SCs/Sts), you can run your own religious institutions etc etc at the same time if yo belong to a majority religion you wont get any of the above benefits so this so called Secular word which was inserted by Indira Gandhi during emergency in the constitution just remains there to quote whenever we want but was never implemented/followed | ||

Secularism means not being associated with any religion and building up a scientific temper. If you feel a particular party is appeasing Muslims, please attack that party - but please do not bastardize the word "Secularism". While it a debatable matter - if Muslims really voted enmasse for Congress, then Congress would not get wiped out of UP where they have not been in power for the last 20+ years! SP and BSP are the ones which get the muslim vote in UP. Hardcore hindutva wadis vote en masse for the BJP. Hardcore Christians vote for Jagan & BJP is protecting Jagan and taking their help. So one is 100% secular....but India needs to be a secular state if it is to make progress. | ||
