It is very highly unlikely to get Cancer treatment in near future based on the current research. I think most of the industry nor the govt is interested in investing in cancer research. The amount what they spend compared to NASA investment is very tiny. we can seperate Indian-US usecases first.. they are clearly not level playing.. as for US is concerned.. there are already pretty good DBs of medical data available .. its humanely NOT possible to remember all the symptoms,past cases etc of disease - which is where, ML will drastically help cos machine will just churn out the probabilities, diagnosis etc .. this is NOT to say, Machines will REPLACE docs - an expert doctor now has to spend 5 mins may be to do same diagnosis.. and if such a future is proved to be working, then all you need is "infra getting cheap" which is the next step.. the current progress is to prove such a Doc+ML combination works, and it can be adopted.. ie ur MRI scan will no longer be just Scan, it will be a MRI Scan+predict .. brahma satyam jagan-mithyä jivo brahmaiva näparah | ||

As some one rightly said, the cure evolves gradually as each type of cancer is different. we have some vaccines available like HPV Brest cancer is almost curable so no single treatment, medicine or approach can cure all i think we almost used AI and ML to cure AIDS and other deadly diseases which humans could not cure with their research every cure every diagnosis is long back written in google AI and ML programming frame work in 15th century itself, not people are discovering | ||

cancer, by definition, is a "mutation" of cells...i.e. genetic changes have occurred in those cells that are letting them behave in a way they are not supposed to behave.. so, we now have a really good gene editing technology called CRISPR-CAS9....technology that is allowing folks with genetic diseases to have normal kids (thru PGD), technology that is facilitating the creation of "designer" babies...however, this technology is really effective when "impacted" cells are few.... cancer, on the other hand, impacts millions / billions of cells....in many cases, these cells are hard tumors...so the industry is currently trying to find ways to deploy these "CRISPR-CAS9" vectors to impacted sites - it's an incredibly difficult process, especially in hard tumors we are living in good times....but it needs more work...watch out for companies like EDITAS, CRISPR, NTLA - pioneering companies based in boston area....EXCELLENT investment opportunities too.. | ||

i read the book a couple years ago but it was one of the most trans-formative books i've ever read...so some of the hallmarks of cancer are 1. It tricks our immune system into believing those cancer cells are not foreign - that is why the industry came up with chemotherapy that essentially thinks everything is foreign and wipes out most of our immune system....hence the need to pair chemo with immunotherapy 2. It switches off cells natural killing mechanism...i.e. all of our cells die every second, being replaced by new cells..but this mechanism is turned off in cancer cells 3. so and and so forth - there are 4 other hallmarks - basically we don't stand a chance, the odds are incredibly less for certain types of cancers anyway, we made good progress....breast cancer, prostate cancer and even leukemia used to have much higher rates of death......now a combination of chemo, immunotherapy and in some cases re-engineered CAR-T cell therapies are working well - resulting in a total relapse and cure of cancers with gene editing technologies like CRISPR-CAS9, there's more hope for curing more types of cancers...currently a lot of DOLLARS and research is being conducted on how to deploy CRISPR-CAS9 genetic changes to cancerous sites and cells....it'll take time but before we die, we may see comprehensive methods to cure cancer that said, i highly doubt that there's gonna be a SILVER BULLET in curing any type of cancer...whenever an article alludes to a silver bullet, chances are - it's fake..coz cancer is evolution - we cannot counter evolution with a silver bullet | ||
