there are already quite a# of rules, that DB violates - this particular topic, if anything, helps a Mangoman - only marginally.. IP is personal ani .. if you have IP address, you know ISP, you can trace the MAC and a Physical address.. and you can always Tag a "person" to it.. Dhoomakethu is in Uk, Virgin XX ISP - thr is address.. now the question is will we really catch the particular abuser ? daniki more relevant ques - thr will be someone on that address, is that person same as Dhoomakethu / will that person guard / be proxy to him.. suffice to say.. someone will be axed.. piracy,ee social media yavvaralu.. highly skewed, with extreme tail risk .. whats the possibility that someone traccks Dhooma.. may be 0.1% but whats the possibility that "a caught person" escapes unconvicted - 0% cyberlaws are strict.. and its not rocket science tracking anyone.. had personal experiences we escaped by a whisker.. brahma satyam jagan-mithyä jivo brahmaiva näparah | ||

I am saying IP address is PII - Your IP is tied to your ID on this board for a post. That ID is tied to an email id. SO, it is PII.
CCDB is capturing the IP address of the computer when we post anything along with our CCDB nick. Hence it needs to be treated as PII and dealt with accordingly.

The GDPR states that IP addresses should be considered personal data as it enters the scope of ‘online identifiers’. Of course, in the case of a dynamic IP address – which is changed every time a person connects to a network – there has been some legitimate debate going on as to whether it can truly lead to the identification of a person or not. The conclusion is that the GDPR does consider it as such. The logic behind this decision is relatively simple. The internet service provider (ISP) has a record of the temporary dynamic IP address and knows to whom it has been assigned. A website provider has a record of the web pages accessed by a dynamic IP address (but no other data that would lead to the identification of the person). If the two pieces information would be combined, the website provider could find the identity of the person behind a certain dynamic IP address. However, the chances of this happening are small, as the ISP has to meet certain legal obligations before it can hand the data to a website provider. The ruling is likely to create problems for a lot of companies. Many capture the IP address of computers to track who is accessing data. They must now treat that data in accordance with privacy rulings. I request the Admins/Mods to please mask the IP addresses of the posters.
