Some degree of socialism is fine in a country like India where povery levels are high, but indulging in populist schemes destroy the country and its people. The most appalling part is every state is grossly indulging in these free bees making people addicted to this. We need a fine balance between growth and populist based schemes but that is not happening. Populist schemes are like opium, they are like reservations. It is impossible to remove them once introduced. It is pity that all our leaders are doing this ignoring growth oriented or productive spending. This is one of the reasons still our infrastructure is so bad. Still we have open drainages in all over the country, no potent drinking water etc. |
