what if grades are not reasonable, things wont work for most of the kids. Grades will be messed up if not forced. I have seen many who started with this idea, but later on had to change based on kids. There is no hard and fast rule, each story is different in each house, each formula is different. Ee Madhya jarigina topic.. we were invited to a friends over for dinner, along with other friend families, one of the family’s mom and son (11th grade) did come to the get together.. reason on Friday night they discovered he missed/didn’t finish his homework ... so she stayed back with him.. Now that boy is not average.. he is a topper, and active in nerdy competitions.. One thing.. our kids here have a challenge.. they grow as Americans.. don’t look white (in a affluence sense) They see/grow with disjoint non-desi gora/kallu/makku family kids.. these dysfunctional family kids have a different way of looking at things.. vaallaki disadvantage ya vachina freedom ni mana kids wow so cool anukuntaru.. lot of different circumstances.. you try to be consistent with your kid .. so they don’t get confused | ||

But you can put guardrails.. my rule was play whatever.. your school grades/conduct comes to me first .. they don’t look good rest will go away.. as long as you meet that you get what you ask for (or rather I never say no ) within reasonable limits ( reasonable boils down to explaining they why not) Worked ok.. | ||

There have been days where kids will say “aaaah same old koora, annam etc”.. but never did our kids order food on their own (till my son got outside driving he’d go eat sometimes with friends).. one thing we did/do is when they say can we eat something else .. let them pick a choice , get to-go.. when they know they get what they want within reasonable limits .. I think it’s easy.. why give option | ||

News outlets report that Arnav Uppalapati was sentenced Friday to spend between 12 years and 15 years in prison after pleading guilty to murdering his mother in 2015. Prosecutors said Uppalapati angered his mother, Nalini Tellaprolu, after ordering a pizza. She slapped him and then he choked her to death. He then put her body in the house’s garage and put a bag over her head. He later called 911 and told a dispatcher that he found his mother’s body when he got home from school. Uppalapati is 19. He was 16 at the time of the murder. |
