actually China needs to keep it's people employed for sake of keeping up its economy and growth The reason why China is investing huge on infra projects both in China and other countries These projects keep the demand for Jobs manufacturing and Construction sector and also inturn the spillover effect on other sectors (like financial,services,food etc) The Rulers also fear that large scale hungry and unemployed restless youth may lead to revolt (towards demand for democracy) | ||

Including its access roads, the bridge spans 55km (34 miles) and connects Hong Kong to Macau and the mainland Chinese city of Zhuhai. The bridge cost about $20bn (£15.3bn) and should have opened in 2016.
