To the morons who have already blamed the victims and since, deleted their comments, and the ones who are yet to comment: **Don't be a ••••••• moron...there are lot more details when so many people die in a an accident..it isn't a case of mass suicide, damn it! Every year, the local organizers coordinate with the railways to manage the train movement during the celebrations. In addition, there are police guards that manage the crowd around the tracks. Also, there needs to be enough space between the effigies and the barricading. This time, all this was missing....people were allowed very close to the efigie, which caused the stampede...there were no policemen near the tracks and there was miss-coordination with the railways. And reportedly, this time, they didn't even have the permission to organize the event. It is not the fault of people who were simply enjoying the festival! It's insensitive morons like you who manage these events and don't care about people's lives that such things happen.. If we were sensitive enough, we'd place human lives above everything else.. At least 300 people were at the spot watching 'Ravana dahan' at a ground near the tracks. As the effigy was lit and the fireworks went off, a section of the crowd started retreating towards the tracks where a large number of people were already standing to watch the event, officials said. However, two trains arrived from the opposite direction at the same time giving little opportunity to people to escape, they said. Several people were mowed down by one of the trains, they added. Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh announced compensation of Rs five lakh each to the kin of the deceased in the Amritsar train accident and said he was rushing to the spot to personally supervise rescue and relief operations. The Chief Minister also announced free treatment to all injured in the accident. "Rushing to Amritsar to personally supervise relief and rescue in tragic rail accident on Dussehra in Amritsar. My government will give Rs 5 lakh to kin of each deceased and free treatment to injured in government and private hospitals.
