What is the relevance of social sciences and humanities!!? they cannot predict things by their nature of their investigation subject matter and method. is it like..the other academic subjects are there because we do not or cannot understand the underlying physics!!? like biophysics... can there be politico physics, economic physics etc..!!? | ||

When can we believe that something is true!! For all practical purposes something that is consistent is truth for us. But how are we sure that if something is witnessed N times what is the guarantee that it would be witnessed N+1 th time! This is the problem of Induction. If we understand the mechanism of an event or phenomenon we may be able to predict the course of it; and we would believe it as truth if the prediction comes true or experienced. Can prediction be the touchstone of truth!? Can we believe our experience!? When we see the Sun we are seeing 7+ minutes old Sun, not the Current Sun. Is reality or truth time bound!? |
