As a guy with understanding of economics, I will give one more year for GST because there always will be initial teething problems and of course rise of inflation is first child of GST

But the way GST slabs have been framed is completely political

Scallion:

Initially Mid level business was backing GST, single window taxation if implemented correct,

they live far from reality...complexity is not at all about the cascading taxes but how one will tax an item which has not got the uniform demand across the nation...India is so different every 100kms...GST will be a night mare

of course, we are born suckers, we will live with it

that's the key point..

Aus lo GST was proposed in late 1970s..since then it's been in the discussion for almost a decade and half and they have started drafting it in mid 90s and rolled out in early 2000s

Aus population is almost 1/60th of India...

Any ways, GST is not the idea for India..forget about implementation , the thought itself is not a good one , even if they manage to control every last leakage in tax claims and input tax credits , GST as a concept will be a failure

probably few sectors like Logistics , transport might be beneficiaries but that will be miniscule compared to the loss

the first and foremost thing one should ask the govt is, when the previous VAT regime is doing good for the nation what compelled them to move to GST without properly drafting it

Initially Mid level business was backing GST, single window taxation if implemented correct, makes their lives happy and cut down some taxes etc etc

now they are cursing

These will be there pretty much evere where...Aus lo millions of dollars claim cheskunnaru by showing false business activities...Govt may not crack down on each and every thing

the first and foremost thing one should ask the govt is, when the previous VAT regime is doing good for the nation what compelled them to move to GST without properly drafting it
