After a caterpillar was allegedly found by one of the customers in the Veg Biryani served by the Ikea restaurant, Hyderabad and the same was corroborated by the lab tests of the GHMC and fined by the corporation, the Swedish budget-furniture giant Ikea has cut down the Veg Biryani from its food menu in the restaurant. Along with the Veg Biryani, surprisingly, the restaurant has also cut down Samosa from the menu. This is after the wake of allegations over the quality of food served at the Ikea restaurant. The GHMC has earlier fined the Ikea store in Hyderabad to the tune of Rs 11,500 after it thoroughly probed the complaint received from one Abeed Mohammad who had tweeted a picture of the worm he found in his Veg Biryani and even lodged a complaint to the Food Safety Officer at GHMC. The GHMC Officials had collected the food samples for bacteriological analysis and quarantined the remaining Veg Biryani. And subsequently made the Ikea store responsible. Taking cognizance of the serious allegations and the huge damage that it did in social media, Ikea has taken this serious decision to cut down the Veg Biryani and Samosa from the menu. Ikea told to have conveyed the same to its Nagpur vendor-Haldirams, from where it procures food. WE THE NORTH |
