Since Jet Airways is facing the possibility of bankruptcy, other companies in the aviation sector would also see tough times. Let me explain why. A company facing bankruptcy would go very aggressive on pricing, they'd try to undercut the competition and increase cash flows without regards for the future. It's a firefighter situation for them. In the process, they end up hurting the competitors. Consumers would benefit. If Jet goes out of business (gets liquidated), then the other companies would greatly benefit but that's an unlikely prospect even if it goes into default because the new bankruptcy law in India (IBC) would most likely ensure that somebody would takeover through the bankruptcy court (NCLT) and run the business. World-wide very very few airlines made real money until unless they have govt backing like Etihad etc So these airlines companies you can play as momentum stocks when crude prices go down etc but I don't think they are good for long term hokding | ||
